Benefit - Cruelty Free ?

A few weeks ago I wrote a review on Benefit Cosmetics and after it I was left with one question. Are Benefit cruelty free ?

                                                                          Taken at Banksy Exhibit 2009.

There are various discussions/comments on one of the Benefit fanpage on facebook. However I wanted confirmation from Benefit directly. I emailed them and this is what they had say.

Not the result I was hoping for.

Until it changes, I will not be purchasing any Benefit products or using anymore products.

What do you think ?

  1. I'm glad that Benefit do not actively test on animals. I think it's good that they're reviewing the raw materials that make their products. I hope they can state that they're completely cruelty free soon.

  2. @Kim I do appreciate their honesty. It is definitely a step in the right direction. I just hope it is sooner rather than later..

  3. Interesting series. I'm glad they actually bothered to get back to you. I'm not a fan of Benefit, as none of their products I've bought have done what they're supposed to do! Is there some EU legislation coming in in a few years preventing ingredients from being tested on animals as well? xx

  4. @TheBristolBeautyBlog Thank you. Me too, with regards to legislation I am going to investigate this along side the brands/companys. Xxx

  5. I think its good that they are at least actively trying to become a brand which can state that it is 100% cruelty free. I'm not a Benefit fan but this actually is making them more endearing to me.

  7. Interesting article, thanks for sharing. I too am not the biggest benefit fan because everytime I've ever bought anything I agree they don't do what they say! I bought dandelion once and the effect was a big fat nothing, u couldn't even see it! Xxx

  10. As above, I agree it's good that they're taking steps. A lot of companies take the 'we can't confirm the status of our raw materials' stance so as not to mislead people into thinking they're genuinely cruelty free. However, I also agree that their stuff is overpriced crap that doesn't do what you're expecting! Miaow! Shame cos it's a mega cute brand!

I've just had a 'definitely animal friendly' Lush bath!
